It's not Spanish and it's not moss, but it is called Spanish Moss. The silvery-green plant that hangs from trees is a relative of the pineapple. The plant does not hurt the tree and is used by some birds as nesting material. Spanish moss was used by Henry Ford, Sr. as seat stuffing for his original Model T.
